Cala San Vicente – A Quick Guide
Cala San Vicente, (sometimes known as Cala San Vincente, or Cala Sant Vicenç) is a petite, picturesque beach resort right up at the northwestern tip of Mallorca. Cala Barques – the biggest and prettiest of all the Cala San Vicente beaches. Perfect for an enjoyable family day out away from the more crowded tourist beaches.
Cala Clara – this tiny little beach just a few meters along from Cala Barques gets very busy in the summer months, mainly due to the resort hotels nearby.
Cala Molins – fine white sands make this beach very popular for swimmers and bathers. Situated further round the Cala San Vicente headland.
Cala Carbo – the fourth small beach in the Cala San Vicente area.
Beach hire – even though quite a solitary resort, Cala San Vicente has plenty of sunbeds and parasols for hire. There are pedaloes to keep the kids happy too.
Bronze Age Cave Dwellings - Cala San Vicente is home to Mallorca’s most important man-made ancient cave dwelling sites. Known as ‘pre-talaiotic necropolises’ they remind you of an important island civilization from long ago.
Seafood Restaurants – Cala San Vicente is a still a fishing village despite all the tourism. Naturally, this has brought about a selection of local restaurants specializing in delicious, freshly caught seafood. (Look out for ‘catch of the day, particularly if it’s lobster!)
Tourist Office – situated just behind the beach on Placa de Sant Vicente. It’s open June to September.
Puig de l’Aguila – a fabulous hike up the 206m hill is most recommended as the views are breathtaking from the top. It’s 6km in length so make sure you have a good map.
Pollensa - this beautiful historic town in the north of Mallorca is just a few miles from Cala San Vicente.
Puig del Calvari – ‘Calvari Hill’ in nearby Pollensa is a beautiful, steep stone-stepped walkway leading up to the famous statue of The Mother of God at The Foot of the Cross. Enjoy views to die for.
Formentor - take the ferry or hire a boat from Pollensa’s port nearby and explore one of Majorca’s most beautiful and remote locations.

Just a few of miles out of Cala San Vicente you’ll come across the famous Alcanada Golf Club, widely regarded as the best golf course in Europe. It's a challenging par-72, but the breathtaking location by the sea makes it all worthwhile.
You’ve arrived in this lovely, remote beach resort late in the afternoon and the sun is shining. You unpack, take a quick look around your rented villa, and it’s time to relax after your journey. So you gather friends and family round and open a nice chilled bottle of wine to share along with a few tasty nibbles. After a pleasant siesta, it’s time to explore this stunning coastline. As the sun sinks below the horizon, you take a stroll into the old fishing village for a café con leche.
Feeling hungry now you choose one of the excellent seafood restaurants Cala Sant Vicente is renowned for. After a delicious meal you enjoy a digestif before returning to your lovely holiday villa for an early night, because in the morning, that walk around the rugged coastline followed by a dip in the Med awaits. How to get to Cala San Vicente
Cala San Vicente is roughly 40 miles from the capital Palma and its international airport, Son Sant Joan. It is also just a short distance from the historic town of Pollensa.
From the airport, major roads take you all the way to the resort. You’ll find plenty of car hire offices at the airport, or you could simply travel by taxi to Cala San Vicente.
On exiting the airport, take the Palma motorway Ma-19 and then turn onto the Ma-20 which goes around the outskirts of Palma. Exit at
junction 3B. It’s a fast, straight run from here on the Ma-13 to the town of Inca where you turn onto the Ma-2200.
Continue straight on and you’ll pass the town of Pollensa. From here you turn left onto the Ma-2203 which takes you directly to the heart of Cala San Vicente.
Once in the resort, there are regular buses to Alcudia, Lluc, Pollensa, Puerto Pollensa and Puerto Soller. Some buses only run May to October, so it’s worth checking.
The surrounding area is best discovered on foot or by bike. The good news is, you’ll find plenty of walking trails around this part of northwest Mallorca, particularly around the wild, rugged coastline. The Tourist Office on Placa de San Vicente should be able to help you on this.
How about exploring the beautiful countryside by mountain bike? There are many attractive routes around the local area and you’ll find shops that hire out bikes too.
There’s plenty to tempt you away from your holiday accommodation in Cala San Vicente. You’ll find a selection of laid-back café-bars here in the resort as well as a handful of tasteful shops. And don’t forget those speciality seafood restaurants!
